Reiki is a Japanese Word that means “Universal Vital Force”. This energy takes on different forms and is present in every living thing. It is the essence of who we are as human beings; it is an integral part of our being. 

When our "chi" is strong, we are physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually healthy. When our chi is at a very low level, we can become ill or unbalanced in several ways. On of the ways in which we can replenish our Vital Force is by using Reiki. 

When a reiki practitioner makes contact with his/her hands, he/she transmits that energy, whether to himself/herself or to another person.

Reiki has a balancing, harmonizing, unblocking effect on the receiver as well as the transmitter. When we experience Reiki, whether from our own hands or from another practitioner’s, we feel calm and relaxed. Extensive healing takes place on all levels as a result of this calmness and harmony. 

It is excellent for reducing "stress" and strengthening the immunological system. Many healing professionals such as physical therapists, psychiatrists, psychologists, kinesiologists, etc. have begun to combine Reiki with their habitual healing methods. Reiki has its own intelligence and knows what each person needs. The energy goes directly to the place where the person who receives it needs healing.

At the beginning of treatment, the energy may begin to take effect at a totally different level than that which we had anticipated. Reiki always gives us the opportunity to heal at the deepest level for which we are prepared. 

Sometimes we feel that we are not ready to face that which rises to the surface; in that case, Reiki acts gently, supporting us without invading what we are experiencing internally. 

Reiki is universal, live, intelligent energy. Therefore, undergoing a session of reiki is the beginning of a new step toward a balanced, healthy, happy life.
